Murder
Charges
This is very sad &
disturbing news. Sincere condolences to the late wife's bereaved
family. Surely! ... At what state is a human
being's mind at the time of taking away life of a fellow human being?
Was a serious
confrontation seen to be forthcoming by close family & friends?
Is this something which could have been
prevented at the early stages of their relationship?
Plymouth - Minnesota:
A mwananchi
is charged with
second-degree murder after officers found his wife’s body in a
Harbor Lane apartment.
Bernard Tuda Obondo,
26, admitted to hitting Crystal Halloran, 23, with a hammer,
stabbing her with a knife and choking her, according to a
complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.
At 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, Plymouth police responded to 911 calls
reporting screaming and loud noises coming from the apartment in
the Regency Point apartment complex on Harbor Lane North. Obondo also called 911, stating there was someone dead in his
apartment, according to the complaint.
Officers responding to the scene saw a bloody hand print on the
door, blood on the door and in the hallway.
“They knew something was amiss,” said Lt. Dan Plekkenpol.
The officers heard a struggle from inside an apartment, according
to a statement released by the department.
Before officers entered the apartment, Obondo exited his apartment
and his hands were covered in what appeared to be blood, according
to the complaint.
When officers entered the apartment, they found Halloran’s body in
the bathroom with two stab wounds to her chest. Attempts to resuscitate Halloran were unsuccessful, and paramedics
pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police have recovered a hammer and knife that appear to have blood
on them, according to the complaint.
The complaint gives this description of the early morning:
Obondo said he got into a fight with Halloran when he suspected
her of cheating on him.
She went to bed and he fell asleep later that night in the living
room.
He woke up in the middle of the night, found a hammer in his
toolbox and struck her head one or two times while she was in bed.
She woke up, screamed and struggled to get away from Obondo.
She was able to get out of the apartment and into the hallway when
he struck with the hammer again.
Obondo brought Halloran back into the apartment and continued to
hit her with a hammer.
Obondo then said he heard a knock on the door. He went into the
kitchen, got a knife from a drawer, and went into the bathroom,
where he stabbed Halloran multiple time. Obondo said that after he
stabbed her, he strangled her.
Obondo changed clothes, called 911 and left the apartment. As he
left the apartment, Plymouth police officers detained him.
At press time, Obondo was being held at the Hennepin County
Detention Center on $1 million bail.
The last homicide in Plymouth occurred this summer, when a man
overdosed and two people allegedly dumped the body on Zachary
Lane.
